Recently 30 popular Youtube channels have been hijacked by people who promise gold and green forests in exchange for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

As soon as the scams have hijacked an account, it is renamed to something that has to do with Microsoft, such as Microsoft News or Microsoft Europe.

Then an old clip with Bill Gates is posted to make it a little more believable. The last step is to link to a scam campaign where visitors are asked to send over their cryptocurrencies with a false promise that they will receive double the amount in exchange.

The fake clips have tens of thousands of clicks each and obviously there are a lot of people who have gone on the bluff. According to Zdnet, thousands of dollars have appeared in several of the linked accounts.
