One of the oldest tricks in the book is to trick users to fake domains and unfortunately it still works. Google is now going to try show warnings when you end up on a fake site.

Sites like g00gle.com and appl3.com are simple but harmful sites. But now Google is bringing a new function is Chrome and will be available for the Canary-version.

If you want to try it out you have to download  Chrome Canary 74 and type chrome://flags in the address bar then you activate the function lookalike url:s then you will have warnings like “Did you mean to go to http://apple.com/?” if you end up on a harmful site like appl3.com.

Myself I do not use Chrome but I hope FireFox will take some action and do something like Google to stop the harmful sites.
